MIRI: The Information Department finds most Malaysians generally know about
the 1Malaysia concept but have yet to have a full grasp of it.
According to a survey it carried out recently, 80% of the people interviewed
knew about the concept but were not able to explain what it really stood
for.
“As such, this year we will continue with efforts to explain the 1Malaysia
concept and how people from all walks of life can appreciate it more deeply,”
Information director-general Datuk Abdullah Morad told reporters after attending
a community programme organised by Komuniti Bestari (smart community) Kampung
Pulau Melayu here yesterday.
Abdullah added that the Komuniti Bestari organisations, which involved people
at the grassroots level, could play an important role in helping the department
explain the 1Malaysia concept and other government policies to the people on the
street.
“What we are doing is in line with the wish of our Prime Minister who wants
to feel the pulse of the people at the grassroots level.” — Bernama
