MUAR: The small town of Pagoh is set to boom into an educational hub — with a university campus, an industrial skills training centre, a full-boarding school and a religious school.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the projects were aimed at turning Pagoh into a hub for education in Johor.
Speaking to Pagoh residents at SJK(C) Yu Jern in Bukit Pasir, Muhyiddin who is also Pagoh MP said a 1,000ha site owned by Sime Darby Plantation nearby had been earmarked for the four projects.
“We have discussed with Sime Darby Plantation and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin about the proposed projects and they are agreeable,” he said at a Pagoh parliamentary Chinese New Year celebration dinner here on Friday.
Muhyiddin said the campus planned for Pagoh would be for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia located near Parit Raja in Batu Pahat.
Muhyiddin also praised the residents for their strong belief in maintaining racial unity.
He said the strong unity among the people was the base for Malaysia’s continuous growth and development.
“But we should not forget that things can change if we stop giving importance to unity.
“We must always remind ourselves that we must always remain united,” he added.
